I am honored to be a member of your care team here at Maine Medical Center! Nurse-Midwives are specialists in the normal processes of pregnancy, labor, and birth.

As a Maine native, my goals were always to return to practice medicine in this state.

As a psychiatric and mental health Nurse Practitioner in geriatric outpatient psychiatry, I provide medication management and psychotherapy services for older adults. I enjoy forming collaborative relationships with patients and families.

Born at Maine Med, I grew up in Maine and Vermont. After a brief venture to the Southwest for training, I returned to the Northeast to pursue medical practice.

Alison Engel, CNM, started when she was 5 years old. “I grew up in a family of women who were nurturers,� Engel says. “My mom was a cook and a caregiver, and my grandmother was a labor and delivery nurse.

I grew up in a small town in rural Montana, and I have long had a passion to bring first-rate medical care to a similar community. As a surgeon, I love getting the opportunity to have an immediate positive impact on my patient’s lives.
